Update for 18 November 2011
What's been keeping us busy?
Well, over the last couple of weeks we have introduced Moneybookers, soon to be completely renamed to Skrill, as an alternative payment method. The main reason for this is the fact that (let's call them Skrill, since we are going to have to once they are done rebranding) Skrill is able to process transactions in USD. Previously we were only able to accept South African Rand transactions. Another advantage that Skrill brings is a fairly low transaction fee. Great, so we are pocketing more money :-) Nope, we are passing the savings on to you, our valued customer!
Over the last two weeks we have canvassed feedback from our customers and something that came to the fore as a concern was the apparent lack of security on Skrill. The security is there, but because Skrill loads inside a frame on our site (you don't get sent to another site to complete the transaction) you won't see the green lock on your address bar. Well, we fixed that :-) We actually decided to convert our entire site to a secure site, as opposed to just the pages that had sensitive data as was previously the case.
You will now not only see a green lock, but depending on your browser, your address bar will also go green! This is a technology called "Extended Verification". Our company had to be audited, inspected, physical address verified, IRS clearance obtained, federal public record searched and then some. That process is now finally complete and we have our green lock and green address bar, giving you the same level of data encryption that you would get with a good Internet Banking site. It is currently the highest level of security that is commercially available.
